Oakwood Park is a newly renovated neighborhood park with spectacular views of downtown Nashville. The recent improvements to the 25-acre park includes a new playground, rehabilitation of existing basketball courts, signage, landscaping, and drainage improvements. Vehicular access was removed entirely from the interior of the park, enhancing the pedestrian aspects. A primitive trail was blazed on the eastern slope to the top of the hill, where it ties to an existing trail that wraps back down on the west, creating a one-mile loop.

This new, innovative playground is unique to Metro Parks and Oakwood. The equipment was engineered by a company that is internationally known for their work and knowledge in the area of play – specifically focusing on how effective play design can motivate children, families, and communities to play, interact, and learn.
